Angling History and Achievements: This last year has been very good for me, I won the Sensas Challenge Final 2009 Individually with the team I fished for (Sensas Leicester B) coming second overall as well. I came "nd in the Division £ National this year on the New Junction Canal up in Doncaster with 5.5kg of squatt caught Roach, I have won the Woodland view winter league twice individually in 2006 and 2007 with the team on poidium placings aswell. I have 4 venue records, with 6 individual pool records (3 at one venue, Astwood fisheries) 1st overall in the VDE Super Cup Semi Final at Barford in 2007 weighing in 256lb of carp which is still currently my biggest match weight, 2nd in the 2008 Fishomania Qaulifier at Witherington Farm Fisheries, although this was the worst 2nd placing to have. I also have numerous open wins form many venues across the country both up and down.
Most memorable angling moment: This would have to be winning the Sensas Challenge Final, as I was driving back to Barston lakes clubhouse I had a call from Garbolino's Ian Didcote. The phonecall went something likeā¦Pete pull over if youre driving. (which I did) Let me be the first to congratulate you mate, you've won the final....Really? Yup, no one else has a 2 point score, well done mate! I was that surprised and elated that I dont remember driving back to the clubhouse or the 50 mile journey home after that. All I could do was relive the matches I had just fished and look back at fondly now.
Favourite Venues: My favourite venues have to snake lakes and Nigel Harrhy's Barston Lake, stuffed with roach, perch, tench, skimmers and the obligatory carp.
Future plans / Venues you would like to fish: I would like to fish White acres in the festivals now, aswell as putting my hand to the rivers in my area. I would really like to be in the Dorking line up, and will do my very best to achieve my goal. I would like to win the Fisho Mania and do well in the Nationals.
Favourite Ultima products: My favourite product has to be Ultima's Power Silk, I can honestly say that I use this line for every pole rig and hooklength for all my pole fishing, its very accurate for its diameter, super strong, very resiliant and supple, but with its flouro carbon coating it gives me the confidence with using a thicker diameter to still get the bites with such a low visibility index in the water. I Use Ultima's Power Plus for all my reel lines, as its hard wearing, super high knot strength and high resiliance it lends itself perfectly to the waggler and feeder work that I do.
Favourite rigs: 0.12mm Ultima Power Silk to a Sensas Laetitia float, bulk of number 9s and 3 droppers to a 0.09mm hooklength and an 18 hook. This has caught me plenty of skimmers over the past few months and matched with a light hollow elastic and puller kit has landed me some very big fish too.
0.14mm Ultima Power Silk to a Preston Chianti or KC Carpa Chimp, bulk of number 10s or 9s with just 2 droppers and a 0.10mm Power Silk hooklength to a 16 hook has caught me some very good F1s, small carp and is my first choice for winter carping.
0.15mm Ultima Power Silk to a Cralusso Capri float, bulk of number 9s 8 inches from a size 14 hook is my general carping rig with a Power Silk hooklength.
0.17mm Ultima Power Silk to a Cralusso Capri float, number 10 shot bulked 8 inches from the size 14 hook straight through for margin work.
Favourite bait: If fish eat it I will use it! |

People I would most like to meet: I would really like to meet Jean Desque, as I would love to talk to him about his floats and their different purposes. I would also like to meet Bob Nudd (my inspiration) as he helped me win the Junior Leeda shield twice with his Carp on the long pole video. In the business world though it would have to be Sir Alan Sugar.
Favourite TV programmes: This would be Deadliest Catch, intersting to watch and follow, not the job for me though! Top Gear is a favourite Clarksons quips are just brilliant.
Favourite music: Anything that takes my fancy, I donāt follow any particular genre's or bands.
Other sports: Clay pidgeon shooting, archery and Airsoft
Likes: Chinese, eating out. Lazy weekend away somewhere hot and a good cold pint of Cider.
Dislikes: Sprouts, tangles and throwing feeders into far bank vegetation. |
