Angling History and Achievements: Been fishing since I was about 3. Limpet Angling Club champion for the first time at 15. Caught some reasonable fish, but personally size doesn’t matter much..as long as they’re big enough!!
Won my first open competition at 19.
First represented England in 1989 at the World Champs in Ireland. Now had 18 world caps, plus one as reserve/manager. Also one cap at Home level.
World Team results 4 x gold, 3 x silver, 3 x bronze. Best individual result 2nd at Chesil in 2004. 14 individual top 20 finishes including 7 top 10’s.
Penn League and final winner. Twice league runner up.
3 times winner of Irish Winter Beach festival. 5 times runner up.
Current CIPS world ranked number 1 ( for last 3 years )
Most memorable angling moment: World Champions in 1990, 1996, 2003 and 2004.
Favourite Venues: Princes Parade, Chesil…or anywhere with fish.
Future plans / Venues you would like to fish: For England to become World Champions as many times as possible in as many different countries as possible. Also..if I’m honest..would love to be individual champion..but as long as the teams wins it’s not that important.
Favourite Ultima products: F1...tough as old boots. 12 – 30lb clear tapered leaders...although can’t seem to get them anymore.
Favourite rigs: Have designed many rigs...the Portsmouth loop…split rigs etc. Personally I don’t think there can be a favourite rig as everything depends on conditions, species sought etc.
Favourite bait: Anything that catches fish. |

People I would most like to meet: Not something I’ve ever thought about.
Favourite TV programmes: Match of the day…sporty stuff..some comedy..anything which involves gratuitous violence.
Favourite music: Anything that’s on the radio..although I mainly tend to listen to Talksport.
Other sports: Erm...I like to dance with my lovely lady. Rumours that I wear spangly suits, backless dresses and shiny shoes are wildly off target though.
Likes: Fishing..food..footy..food..fishing..food..footy..food..etc
Dislikes: People who think they know everything.
