I thought you might like to know about my recent success using Ultima line.
I've been away from fishing for about 25 years and started again last September. Tackle has changed greatly and I have been more than impressed with recent advances in line technology. We used to have to use breaking strains of about 12oz to get lines as fine as you now get 3.2lb and I find myself using hook lengths of greater breaking strain than I used to use as main line!
I was fishing for bream recently and using 6lb Power Plus as main line with 3.2lb XT7 as hook length. When the carp took my two red maggots on an 18s hook I had no idea how big it was. I have recently caught carp to 5.5lb, bream to 3.5lb and tench to 3.5lb so I knew it was quite a bit bigger than these but had every confidence in my set up, mostly due to the line.
When I had weighed the fish and looked at my hook length it really did make me think about just how good this line is. It had soaked up all the lunges and runs during a 15 minute fight that I am sure other lines wouldn't have stood up to.
Many thanks Ultima for "The Greaest Line Ever"

The Amphibian
Perry Harris who was testing some Ultima line after meeting the guys at the Carpin' On show in five lakes caught the Amphibian last week pictured right. Perry was using 16lb Ultima Power Carp and commented " I caught the Amphibina last week whilst still using your line and i'm glad i was when she took me into the reeds, i'd like to say that this is an excellent line. There's not many 50's in this country"

Beautiful First Fish for Ronald Margadant
Ronald says: " This is my first fish this year, and what a beautiful one.
The weight of the fish is 18 kilo.
I almost lost the fish because it whas stuck in the snags and I had to get in the water.
My line whas Power Plus 0.35mm and my Virage 0.45mm did a great job, I always use Virage for a snag leader and this time it saved my fish ".

I did my first session of the year the weekend just gone. That being a Friday to Sunday this April. I was lucky enough on the draw to get number one out of the hat. Now, the majority of anglers this time of the year will go for the reedy swim if they pick number one as it’s nigh on guaranteed action but as I don’t enjoy fishing the swim, (The reasons being I can’t relax in it, I’m on edge all of the time, I may well catch but I also may well lose fish. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve caught some lovely fish from the swim over the years and sadly lost a fair few too.) Nowadays I like to stick with the open water. This time was no different and I went in a swim that had produced a number of fish already this year. It had gone off the boil for a couple of weeks but I wanted to have a go in it anyway. I’d told Nige earlier in the week who’d drawn number two on the draw and went in the reedy swim that if I got one and he got two, then the reeds would be his if he wanted it as I wouldn’t bother. I also added that I’d be happy to take pictures of his captures as and when they came, and true to my word we ended up one and two and I took pics of a nice couple of fish weighing in at 27lb and 38lb 12oz. I’d not seen a thing all Friday and Saturday in my areas, nor had any other anglers fishing in open water either. We’d had rain, hale, strong winds thunder and lightning throughout the days but come Saturday evening the weather calmed down a little. Faint hints of oil were hitting the surface near mine and Colins spots on the opposite bank. He’d also phoned to say that he’d had a couple of liners. Things seemed to be looking up and about a half hour after talking to Colin on the phone I had a liner on my left hand rod. I still hadn’t seen a fish show though and it stayed that way into darkness. Steve who was in the swim next to me came round for a chat and a cuppa around 9pm. As we stood talking about some of the lakes inhabitants we were rudely disturbed by one ripping line off of my middle rod at a helluva rate. The buzzer had gone from silent to one tone in a split second!! The fish took a lot of line on its initial run but once I’d turned it there was a lot of slow head shaking from the fish as I slowly got it in close. It was only then that it decided to scrap. A good fight, whereby it would wedge itself behind close features, tear right then left. Again the 14lb power carp stood the test the fish gave it and after passing my rod under the other two, I got it to the surface and brought it to the waiting net. I watched the head pass over the drawstring and then a lot of body and finally the tail flopped in!!
We looked by torchlight into the net to see a lovely long fish that at first I never recognized but whilst sorting out my gear for photos Steve realised what fish it was. It turned out to be one I knew of but one that I’d not had before but had always hoped for. On weighing it the scales hit 38lb 14oz. Getting one of my targets on my first session of the year and at a very good weight was a great feeling. A lovely long clean fish and a renowned scrapper. It certainly made my day. I’ve been very fortunate over the years with regards to captures of big fish on this water. The buzz remains still as strong as ever. Targets still remain as will I.
For those of you still awake reading this I say cheers. To those who’ve passed out!! My humble apologies. Anyways all the best to you and be lucky.
Rick Clements

First fish of the year for Ultima Benelux Captain Elliott Dekker
Ultima Benelux Captain Elliott Dekker catches his first fish of the year on Ultima Power Carp, what a great start to the year.
I caught this beautiful fish in the North of France, the weather was bad, a lot of rain and heavy wind. I almost lost this fish in the snags but my Power Carp 0.33mm and Virage 0.45mm (snag leader) did a good job! My stiff rig from Ultima's Hard Core and a single hookbait did the rest. The weight of the fish is almost 15 kilo.

Alan 'Camo' Turner catches new Personal Best
Pictured right is a new personal best for Camo, a beautiful 55lb Mirror caught on Ultima Power Plus, here is what he had to say about the day.
"After a very slow start to the week at the famous Rainbow Lake France, fishing Peg 5, with no takes around much of the lake, it was not until my fourth day that I had my first take this produced a 55lb-8oz Mirror and a new PB the fish was taken deep amongst the snags that this swim is renowned for.
The weather was against me from the start heavy rain and extremely strong winds made it hard for my tactics for fishing this peg to work, using a four inch poly ball to keep my line off the bottom and clear of the snags the line I used was 18lb Power Plus.
It was not until the sixth day before I landed a 49lb-8oz Mirror to finish off my week, the line worked extremely well and have full confidence in it fishing both at home and abroad whether fishing open water or snags."

Power Plus
"After several months of barbel fishing with Power Plus, I can heartily recommend it as a line eminently suitable for general barbel fishing. It is reliably strong, knots beautifully, has low memory and low visibility. It is limp, yet tough and abrasion resistant, with a low diameter that makes it ideal for open water feeder fishing, but it also performs well in weedy or snaggy swims. They should call it Barbel Plus!"

Power Carp
"I have used many lines in the past but never felt as confident as using Ultima's 16lb Power Carp in France. It has banked me many fish, I have no need to worry about the line not doing its job, I can fish with great ease as I know the line will never let me down, it does what it says, one of the best confident lines I have used in a long time it, does it for me."

Power Carp
I have used many lines from different companies, but Power Carp from Ultima, is the best I have ever used!!! The fluorocarbon coating is great and makes the line nearly invisible (very good for pressured carp) and its abrasion resistance is very good (I use the line all the time) also when I'm river carping.

Jerry Bridger - Power Carp
"Everything I look for in a mainline the Power Carp has fulfilled my needs. Unlike some other fluorocarbon coated lines, Ultima's Power Carp knots and casts extremely well and has limited stretch. The line is extremely durable and it becomes even more friendly after it has been used a few times and has had time to bed in. I have used the Power Carp on a venue where the fish are incredibly line-shy and good line lay and line concealment are of paramount importance. In short the Power Carp has performed superbly and shows no sign of needing to be replaced."

Ultima Power Plus in 15lb.
When Alan "Camo" Turner weighed this common he could not believe it when the scales rested at 40lb-8oz. He had to weigh it again just to make sure! Not only was the fish the one that he wanted, but a personal best common at over 40lb.
"My thanks to Ginge who took the photos - pukka job mate! Also to Tony and the lads at Premier for a terrific bait and to Chris Logsdon who suggested I made the move from Chilham Mill to Conningbrook. Oh yes and to Thomas at work for my much needed cup of tea when I returned to work."

Power Carp an excellent all round Big Carp line!

Power Carp
"Since being given the chance to test Power Carp the first session out banked 17 carp topped by this superb 33.08 Common. I believe with my fishing situation at that time Power Carp certainly helped in the downfall of this fish. With fishing close in to my own reed lined margin, slack line fishing was a must as the fish at Pallington do not like tight lines. So Power Carp stood out as the sinking qualities were second to none. Once hooked this fish certainly gave the line a pounding being in and out of the reed bed making me cringe on every jerk of the rod as the Power Carp grated around the abrasive stems, where surely small mussels and snails were present. This is where the new materials incorporated in the line has certainly worked as stated. At all times I knew where this fish was and exactly what it was doing. To me Power Carp helped in all these areas."

Gareth Purnell on Power Plus
"I used the 4lb version of the line last week fishing shallow for still water chub up to about 4lb. Initial impressions before use were very positive. The line is nice and soft, knots well, is consistent and has little memory. It went on the reel nicely too. In use the line was very good and gave me no problems. It sank well too without adding any sinkant. It’s probably more abrasion resistant than you might think too. The reason I think this is that my tip guide inner lining came out during the session. And while you could feel the line going through it when playing fish as a result, there was no obvious effect on the line itself."
Gareth Purnell, Editor tcf.

"I've used this line to fish for carp and barbel and I have to say that I'm very pleased with its performance. I've pulled carp to over 20lb from lilies using the 12lb and found no sign of damage to the surface of the line.
I like the colour, which very closely resembles the colour of silkweed when in the water (and we've had plenty of that this year during the recent heatwave).
The strength to diameter ratio is excellent and most pleasing is that it sinks fast and so far shows no signs of coiling and kinking.
Ultima Power Plus is a line I'm going to be using for a lot of my fishing and although I give it 9 stars this could be changed to 10 when I've used it over a longer period and can better judge its reliability."

"Power Plus is an exceptional all round line, the low diameter aids fishing and distance while the balanced stretch gives you confidence when the fish is at the net. An excellent all round confidence line."

"It was a dream to knot, and the knots held well. I could tell the difference in the stretch capabilities too, when I hooked into a nice Tench. There was enough give in the line without worrying about fragility should the fish do one of its many and spectacular lunges they are renowned for, but I felt in touch with the fish the whole time - MORE CONTROL....THAT'S WHAT THE FISHERMEN WANT !!!!!"
Rod and Line gives this the thumbs up, "and personally I will be using nothing else."
