Andy May on XT7
"I have been using XT7 since the beginning of the year, and can only say it is the best hooklength line I have ever seen. It
hangs perfectly when a knot is formed to attach figure of 8 hooklengths as some lines have a kink below the knot, XT7 doesn’t and I really believe it has caught me fish when all other lines would have failed as it is also fluorocarbon coated. The line is incredibly strong, limp and has no memory. An example as to how strong the line is, I was using 0.08 on my local river Weaver catching very small roach when a pike took one of the roach. As pike didn’t count I went to pull for a break but to my
astonishment the line didn’t break and the pike came in, no trouble, and weighed in at over 14lbs! I have tested the line in a tank in all diameters from 0.08 to 0.20 against my lines of choice before which were Silstar and G-line. The difference with how the XT7 line falls through the water and limpness is plain to see plus and because of the fluorocarbon coating it becomes nearly transparent in the water. I would really recommend every serious match angler to switch to this line, as XT7 will put more fish in your keepnet, particularly in harder conditions."
"XT7 is remarkable, it is very reliable because of its high knot strength and low diameter, and its Fluorocarbon coating means it is guaranteed to perform in all conditions and all the time. I use it for all aspects of my fishing with excellent results" Andy Brown
"I have found the XT7 to be an excellent line for pole rigs; it is certainly very supple and my best fish to date is a carp of over 14lb taken on the pole using 0.14mm." Peter Edwards

Special Fluorocarbon Coated Hook, Pole and Rig Line
Ultima XT7 is a unique Hi-tech line that is possibly the most highly specialised product in the Ultima range and has been
developed to give a specific edge to today’s competition angler.
PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING
Presentation is possibly the most critically important factor in the quest to increase bites and catch rates. It was our goal
when we started the development of XT7 to provide ultimate presentation to the match angler along with maximum strength
performance.
INHERENT STRENGTH
The highest quality copolymers have been used to give XT7 an incredibly high linear and knot strength which must be the basis for any successful match line. Production is carried out in small carefully controlled batches to ensure accuracy of diameter and consistent quality control, difficult in these very fine diameters. This is possible because, from the outset, it was decided that actual production would be undertaken on laboratory sampling machines which can work to far higher tolerances and offer much higher levels of control than any normal full scale monofilament production line. This does makes XT7 expensive to produce but it means we can ensure that the quality is right, not only the first time but time and time again. A price well worth paying in our opinion.
SOFT TECHNOLOGY
Once the required quality levels had been achieved, the job was to make XT7 the best line as far as presentation is concerned. It’s superb strength and thin diameter were a great start, but the goal was to make this something special. All monofilament is processed in a softening bath after it is produced. The first thing was to improve the effectiveness of this process which hadn’t changed for many years. After much experiment, improved results were achieved by doubling the bath time and altering the bath medium formula with a resulting improvement in softness of 10%.
After this, an additional process, originally developed by the Japanese in the late 90’s, was used to apply a fluorocarbon impregnation to the line which had the effect of softening it by a further 10%. The final result for XT7 was to soften the line by 19% compared with its original form and thus delivering significantly improved bait presentation which surpasses any other product out there. There was however another unforeseen benefit.
KNOT STRENGTH BONUS
The fluorocarbon coating had the unforeseen effect of providing a waterproof coating to XT7. As many people know monofilament absorbs water when submerged. This water absorption swells the line and reduces the knot strength by 10 -15% after being in water for any period of time. Because XT7 was now water resistant because of the fluorocarbon coating, this no longer happens. Consequently XT7 maintains its knot strength at maximum no matter how long it is in use, a critical bonus, particularly when you want to fish as thin as possible using very fine hook lengths where knots are always the weakest point. Maintaining 95%
knot strength indefinitely through a fishing session is now a reality.
XT7 is a truly remarkable product.
