A Step by Step Guide to tie a Palomar Knot
Step 1:
Start by doubling the line and passing through the eye of the hook, creating a loop. Make sure you have enough line to work with, as you’ll need some extra length for the knot..

Step 2:
The tie a simple overhand knot with the doubled over portion of the line, draw down but do not tighten it fully. The loop you just made should be big enough to pass the hook through.

Step 3:
Pass the hook through the loop: Take the hook and pass it through the large loop you created in Step 2. Pull the loop down and over the hook, so the hook sits inside the loop.

Step 4:
Tighten the knot: Slowly pull the tag end of the line and the main line to tighten the knot. Make sure the knot seats properly and snugly against the eye of the hook.

Step 5:
Once the knot is tight and secure, trim off the excess tag end of the line with scissors or a line cutter.
That’s it! In summary the Palomar Knot combined with one of Ultima’s excellent fishing lines produces a simple but very effective aid to your fishing experience and hopefully success.
